Restricted area “Capo Rizzuto” (half day)
In Capo Rizzuto (20 km. away from La Casa di Botro) conducted tour to the aquarium, in which many species of the fishes living in the depth of the restricted area are present. You will also be shown a spectacular film with amazing scenes of the deep sea. Visit of the restricted area of “Capo Rizzuto”, on board of a transparent-bottomed boat. You will discover a lot of gorges where many species of Mediterranean plants and fishes lie.
The excursion will go on with the conducted tour of the Aragonese Castle: built on an islet, it is one of the most spectacular castle in the region and, indeed, in Italy.
Santa Severina (half day)
Santa Severina (40 km. away from La Casa di Botro), one of the best preserved historical towns in Calabria, has some important evidences of Bizantine and Norman art. You will visit its typical historic centre: conducted tour of the stately castle, the Archaeological Museum, the Diocesan Museum, the Cathedral and the Baptistery.
Crotone - Capocolonna (half day)
Panoramic tour of Crotone (35 km. away from La Casa di Botro), shopping in the traditional market (on Thursday). Then you go on to Capocolonna, where you can visit the archaeological site of the Hellenic temple of Hera Lacinia, of which an impressive column still exists.
Taverna and the National Park of the Sila mountains (one day)
In Taverna (50 km. away from La Casa di Botro), conducted tour of the Civic Museum of “San Domenico”, in which is displayed a permanent exhibition of the paintings of Mattia Preti, one of the best painters of the XVII century. In the Sila mountains, in the local Visiting Centre, you can admire some of the animal and vegetable species living in the park.
Tropea - Pizzo (one day)
From the viewpoint of Tropea (130 km. away from La Casa di Botro) you can admire a wonderful landscape, blue sea and white sands, and the suggestive Church of “Santa Maria dell’Isola”.
You can visit the Norman Cathedral and the traditional artisan and gastronomic shops (the local red onion production, which are widely appreciated for their sweetness).
In the nearby town of Pizzo, conducted tour of the Castle, in which in 1815 Gioacchino Murat was imprisoned and put to death, and visit of the suggestive little Church of “Piedigrotta”, dug in the tuff.
And, finally, you can’t miss the taste of the typical Pizzo icecreams, that you can enjoy in one of the nice cafés sited in the local “Piazzetta”…!
